5 Types of Energy Healing and How They Protect Against EMF

Energy healing refers to various traditional and contemporary healing practices that focus on manipulating the energy fields surrounding the human body. Despite the differences in their cultural origins and techniques, these practices are built on a shared premise: the presence of an energetic essence that influences health and well-being.

It’s also possible that some forms of energy healing can protect against or mitigate the effects of harmful electromagnetic fields (EMFs). In this guide to energy healing, we discuss five of the most common practices, including their origins and the health conditions they’re most useful for.

Before we dive into each type of energy healing, however, let’s look at the concept of the human energy field and how energy healing works.

Human energy field

All energy healing methods are based on the concept of a human energy field (HEF), or energy system. Many practices refer to it as “qi” or “ki.” Until recently, this energy was seen as mostly spiritual. Recent studies into the HEF have shown, however, that this energy field is backed by science and may be measurable.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), based in the U.S., defines HEF as “a luminous field of energy that compromises a person, extends beyond the physical body, and is in a continuous mutual process with the environmental energy field.” Personal energy fields, also referred to as auras, can help us regulate our bodies, minds, and spirits, and even promote self-healing. Most forms of energy healing focus on unblocking energy flows in the body.

The HEF can be considered an energy system in the human body, and it doesn’t just help regulate your body internally. It also emits electromagnetic energy and interacts with external energy fields. The stresses of everyday life, along with coming into contact with harmful EMFs can throw off your energetic balance. In addition to unblocking energy flows, energy healing practices help you restore this balance.

How does energy healing work?

Energy healing is a holistic practice that helps to revitalize the HEF and correct energetic imbalances, leading to improved overall health and well-being. There are several different types of energy healing but most of them have the same goal: using the body’s energy field to improve health.

Energy healing has been around for thousands of years. Ancient Hindu texts described the seven chakras, which are energy transmission centers. Traditional Chinese medicine focused on meridians, which are pathways in the body that energy travels on.

One crucial thing to point out about energy healing and the mind-body connection is that it’s based on scientific principles. Everything in the universe — including humans, animals, plants, objects — is made up of molecules. These molecules vibrate at different frequencies. These frequencies can be positive or negative, balanced or unbalanced, opened or closed. Energy healing techniques are based on the idea that your body can help you realign unbalanced frequencies.

Five Energy Healing Practices

There are several different forms of energy healing out there, but we’re focusing on the five most common: Reiki, acupuncture, reflexology, qigong, and quantum energy healing.

1. Reiki

Reiki is a therapy that uses touch to help guide energy throughout the body. The goal is to promote the recipient’s self-healing abilities. Reiki healing removes blocks so that you can become more energetically balanced.

The term Reiki comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning “universal,” and “ki,” meaning the vital life force energy in all living things. Reiki was developed by Mikao Usui more than 100 years ago. The first Reiki clinic in the U.S. was established in 1970.

Reiki has become more popular in the last few decades because it’s been proven to be effective for patients who weren’t able to be healed using traditional, Western-based medicine. Studies on Reiki have shown that it helps promote peace, security, relaxation, and wellness — all of which can lead to better overall well-being.

2. Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese medicine that involves inserting fine needles into the skin at various sites on the body. You have more than 2,000 acupuncture points on your body that are connected by pathways. These pathways allow energy, or qi, to flow through your body and help boost your overall health. When qi cannot flow, it can lead to disease or poor health.

More specifically, acupuncture points are formed with a nerve vessel bundle that’s wrapped in connective tissue. As a result, these points can stimulate your body’s central nervous system, activating changes in your biochemistry that can launch your body’s natural healing abilities.

Studies by NIH have shown that acupuncture can be effective for relieving pain. Some of the most common use cases are:

  • Back or neck pain
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Myofascial pain
  • Sciatica
  • Postoperative pain
  • Cancer pain
  • Chronic prostatitis
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia

3. Reflexology

Like acupuncture, reflexology is also a Traditional Chinese medicine based on easing the flow of qi. Reflexologists apply various amounts of pressure to the feet, hands, and ears to help restore balance in the body. Different body parts correspond with pressure points in the feet, hands, and ears, and so a healing touch on these spots can send energy flowing through the body toward the area that needs healing.

In addition to helping promote better energy flow in your body, reflexology therapy can also provide better overall relaxation and a greater sense of calm. Reflexology may be able to help with several types of pain, including back pain and arthritis pain. It could also help with some of the following health issues:

  • Immune system problems
  • Bacterial infections
  • Sinusitis
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Digestion

4. Qigong

Qigong is an aspect of Traditional Chinese medicine that uses exercises to optimize energy in the body, mind, and spirit. It originates from Daoist practices that help you maintain personal health and wellbeing. With qigong, you learn to regulate the mind and breath, as well as body movements and posture.

You use slow, deep breaths and gentle movements to help you gain a sense of control over your energy. Qigong also uses techniques like visualization and focusing attention. Qigong movements first imitated animals, but later evolved as humans developed a deeper understanding of energy channels that flow through the body.

Tai chi is closely related to qigong but not exactly the same. It’s considered a form of qigong, along with Baduanjin, Liuzijue, Yijin Jing, and others. At the core of qigong is qi, the energy force we previously mentioned. Like many other energy healing modalities, qigong aims to facilitate and ease the travel of energy in your body.

Some of the most notable health benefits of qigong, according to NIH, include:

5. Quantum energy healing

Quantum healing was a term coined by Deepak Chopra in his 1989 book, Quantum Healing: Exploring the Frontiers of Mind/Body Medicine. He explained that quantum healing is the capacity of the mind to heal the body through shifting energy.

Like other energy healing methods, quantum energy healing focuses on removing energy blockages. But it also emphasizes removing negative energy, such as the harmful frequencies we get from EMFs, pollution, and other toxins.

Quantum healing uses various breathing and body awareness exercises to help you feel balanced, grounded, and at peace. Some examples of techniques that can be part of quantum healing include:

  • Meditation
  • Biofeedback
  • Visualization
  • Quantum Touch

Some practitioners consider qigong, acupuncture, and the other energy healing types mentioned above as forms of quantum healing as well. Since the goals of these therapies and quantum healing are a bit different, however, they can be considered separate methods under the wider “energy healing” umbrella.

Can Energy Healing Protect You From EMFs?

There is proof that some forms of energy healing can protect you from harmful EMFs. Reiki, acupuncture, and quantum healing all have measurable effects against ionizing radiation.

Reiki and acupuncture

In a study on the effects of energy healing, researchers measured the response and survival of cells exposed to x-rays. Cells were exposed to either Reiki or acupuncture after the x-ray exposure and it was found that their response and survival rate was higher than cells that didn’t receive Reiki or acupuncture healing. The researchers concluded that these energy healing practices have a measurable effect on cells that have been exposed to ionized radiation.

Quantum healing

Leela Quantum Tech’s line of quantum energy products were developed in close collaboration with our network of energy healers and practitioners. They were designed to provide the healing benefits of quantum energy in everyday life.
