How Can An Intuitive Healer Help Me?

We’re so used to listening to our intellect and valuing what doctors and other medical professionals tell us that many of us are out of touch with our own intuition. However, what many people don’t realize is that owning your intuition is a key element in healing.

Intuitive healing is a powerful way to address issues that are holding us back, as well as symptoms that are causing us pain and discomfort. But intuitive healing requires an open mind. In order for patients to have a successful outcome with a healer, it’s critical they go in with a positivemindset to trust in less traditional healing modalities.

The Difference Between Western Medicine and Eastern Medicine

Eastern medicine is holistic, whereas Western medicine focuses on pathology and curing disease.

Energy is the basis of Eastern medicine, which dates back to ancient cultures. Chinese medicine, which has been practiced for more than 2,000 years, looks at the balance of energy, “qi,” in the body that runs through invisible “meridians” in the body. Treatments address healing on physical, as well as mental, emotional, energetic, and spiritual levels.

Intuitive healing can help alleviate a variety of physical and emotional conditions, including:

  • Sleep disorders
  • Stress
  • Chronic pain
  • Tissue and bone healing after injury or surgery
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief
  • Life transition
  • Addiction
  • Emotional eating
  • Negative behavioral patterns
  • Chronic diseases, such as cancer
  • Mental health problems

This is an overview of the different kinds of healers, and how they can help you.

Intuitive

There are general intuitive healers, such as psychologists, who blend their traditional training with ancient intuitive aspects. These hybrid practitioners lean on their intuition to guide patients to connect with their own intuitive voice to begin healing.

Unlike traditional psychotherapy, this type of treatment encourages a spiritual awareness as well as a body awareness. The therapy is based on the concept that when you become aware of the sensuousness of your body, you open up an intuitive pathway.

When this happens, you will become more cognizant of early warning signs your body is sending you. This heightened awareness gives you an opportunity to prevent illness from manifesting. It also enables you to choose positive relationships and avoid dangerous, unhealthy situations.

Reiki

Mikao Usui developed reiki over a hundred years ago. The term is derived from the Japanese words rei, meaning “universal,” and ki, the vital life force energy that flows through all living things.

Reiki aids in healing by helping people remove blocks to become energetically balanced — emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually.

Once dismissed by most traditional Western medicine practitioners, reiki has now become a more common practice in the U.S. People have a growing interest in reiki because it has proven to be effective in thousands of instances where the patient was unable to heal via traditional modalities.

Reiki has been found particularly helpful for cancer patients. In fact, the University of Rochester Medical Center regularly hosts reiki practitioners for special events and clinics, and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center also hosts reiki practitioners for guests at its Survivorship and Supportive Care Center.

What happens in a Reiki session?

In a Reiki session, the healer utilizes gentle touch to relax patients and reduce stress and anxiety. Treatments typically last about an hour. During a session, you’ll lie down fully clothed as your Reiki practitioner gently places their hands on or just above your body, targeting specific energy locations.

What does Reiki feel like?

While a Reiki practitioner is conducting a session, patients may experience sensations such as tingling, heat, pins and needles, hot flashes, goosebumps, chills, throbbing, or pulsing.

Reiki works like a thermostat flowing slowly or rapidly as needed to balance a patient’s energy. Sometimes the sensation for the patient is smooth and sometimes erratic. And like a pendulum, the sensations will fluctuate.

Reiki energy healing has a very relaxing effect; in fact, it is not uncommon for people to fall asleep during a session.

What to expect after a Reiki session

Naturally, every client is different, because each comes in with their own particular issue. After a session, some of the physical sensations experienced in a session may last longer.

It is important to hydrate and listen to what your body needs. A bath with epsom salts and herbal tea is a great way to nurture yourself and keep good energy flowing after the session.

Quantum Energy Healing

Quantum healing was first coined by Deepak Chopra when he published his book Quantum Healing: Exploring the Frontiers of Mind/Body Medicine in 1989. In the book, Chopra speaks of healing the body-mind. The concept behind quantum healing is that the mind has the capability to heal the body through shifts of energy.

Over the course of our lives, EMFs, bad food, polluted air, and other toxins impact us on a cellular level. Stress and tension are also two of the biggest causes of emotional and physical distress.

Quantum energy healing is similar to other intuitive healing methods; however, in addition to activating the body’s energy to remove blocks, healers also focus on removing negative energy. Quantum-touch methods work by teaching the patient how to focus and magnify life-force energy by integrating different breathing and body awareness exercises to evoke feelings of balance, groundedness, and peace.

When the balance and flow of energy are restored throughout the body, mind, and soul, we can remove blocks and promote our own healing. Deepak Chopra refers to such a correction as a quantum leap.

Whether you realize it or not, we are all intuitive beings. It can be incredibly empowering to know that you have an important role to play in your own healing. The work with intuitive modalities is to know how to tune into your instincts and trust them to make decisions. It starts with self-awareness and acknowledgment of your own power.
