Meridian Energy

Meridian energy refers to the concept from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that the body is threaded with a network of invisible channels or pathways—called meridians—through which life-force energy (often called qi or chi) flows.

Each meridian corresponds to a major organ system (like the heart, lungs, liver, or kidneys) and serves as a communication and regulatory network that helps coordinate physiological, emotional, and subtle-energy functions throughout the body. When meridian energy flows freely and balanced, wellbeing is supported; when it becomes stagnant, blocked, or imbalanced, this can correlate with discomfort, tension, or reduced function in the associated organ system or related areas.

Practices such as acupuncture, acupressure, shiatsu, and certain movement disciplines like qigong or tai chi work directly with meridian energy. They stimulate or open specific points along these channels to help restore smooth, balanced energetic flow. Other approaches, like manual therapies, breathwork, and mindful movement, also aim to support these pathways indirectly through relaxation, improved circulation, and nervous system engagement.
